Chief Stephen Olusesan Ogedengbe was born in Ilesa on 28th April 1929 to Late Pa Daniel Elabiyi Ogedengbe alias “Eko Ogedengbe” and Late Madam Tinuade Ogedengbe nee Omole of Idifi alias “Mama Oniyo”.

Chief Stephen Olusesan attended St. John’s School, Iloro, Ilesa where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1951

He was an active member of St. John’s Church, (now Cathedral), Iloro, Ilesa choir for many years before he left Ilesa.

He worked with the liquidated Nigeria’s Trust Bank, Ondo Branch in 1952 as the Cashier. He later proceeded to Lagos where he worked as a Court Bailiff, Rent Collector, Estate Agents and Building Contractor which took him to many towns in Nigeria, and Overseas.

While in Lagos, Late Chief Stephen Olusesan Ogedengbe took the burden of assisting his family and fellow Ijesa kinds men. He gave the right education to both his immediate relation and the extended family members.
Indeed, he was the father for not his immediate family but the extended family as a whole.

Chief S. Olu Ogedengbe as a socialite was a foundation member of Ilesa Social Elite and was its Financial Secretary and later as its Social Secretary in Lagos.

He was a member of Island Club, Lagos. His membership number was 3470.

He was President  of Club Internal Lagos from 1975 to 1985. The late I.K. Dairo MBE and Tunde Nightingale waxed many records for him, both now have blessed memory.

Chief  Stephen Olusesan Ogedengbe was a devout Christian and a Staunch Anglican. He belonged to Morning Star Society in St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Ebute-Metta and was the President of Morning Star Society for eight years, while in Lagos and later became the Patron. When he arrived home in Ilesa from Lagos, he joined Iloro Youth Christian Society in the Cathedral Church of St. John’s. At St. James Anglican Church which is very near his home, he joined Young Men Christian Association (YMCA).

He was honoured with the Chieftaincy title of “OTUN-BALOGUN” of Ilesha in 1981 by the then Owa Obokun of Ijesa Land, Oba Agunlejika and was installed “OBA-ALA” of Ilesha on 1st May 2000 by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Adekunle Aromolaran, Owa-Obokun of Ijesa Land.

Chief Stephen Olusesan Ogedengbe died on Sunday, 30th December 2001. He was blessed with 3 wives (2 deceased), and many Children and Grand Children.
